If this gets posted twice, forgive me...

"It is always on my mind that I have to hit my goals before I make a mistake and get hurt, or before father time comes for me. "

Try to hit your goals WITHOUT making a serious mistake that leaves you hurt. Father time comes quicker when you're sitting on the sidelines, nursing an injury from caused by stupid. Trust me and my aching shoulder.

Great job, as always, John. Looking forward to seeing you again, soon. Galya always asks "is John going to be there?" when we're heading to an event, so you have another fan.

Talk to you soon!

Hello John! It's good to see you in action. That 32 looks like a toy in your hands! Rif writes a word "SISU" in his writing, is it finnish word? Do you know what that means? It suits to your training well, means you've got guts!! Say hello to Nazo and Jason!

John

I totally understand your desire to get as close to your physical potential as possible, but, from my perspective, having been pretty close to the top in a number of things( relatively) and then having to start over more than once I realize the reality is " win lose or draw, the next day it's back in the gym".
This is as true for the World Champ as it is for everyone else.
The real winning is being able to get up on the platform and get every last drop out of yourself that day, survive it and get to do it again.
Because no matter what you lift the kb, or the barbell always wins; there is always a heavier bar or bell.
Enjoy the dance :))

Thanks Rif! It's hard not to be self critical when it comes to lifting. I do feel good about these sets. The right was all I could ask for and the left was better than I thought it would be. I'm in a good place (at least this week). Your comment really helped. I am getting better and I am healthy (knock on wood). Every day I tell myself that I am racing against the clock when it comes to competing. I am in my mid 30's now and while not old I am not 23 :-) I do have to be careful. It is always on my mind that I have to hit my goals before I make a mistake and get hurt, or before father time comes for me. For now I do feel strong and more fit than I ever have. I know my time is now to make the big push.

I totally get what you mean by "high quality problems" I call them Kevin Arnold problems "Should i date Winnie Cooper? or should I date the 23 year old actress they hired to play an 8th grader?" LOL...The Wonder Years :-)

Dude those were great sets! I know they are not perfect but few are and it's not the point. It's about attitude and doing your best that day, that workout, with the body and energy that shows up.

You are so lucky to be so young and uninjured and you get to push yourself hard. I would kill to be able to do that again. and hey, it's the 32 you are working with. that's no joke.

most days I worry about whether my left knee will support my weight enough so I can walk and perhaps get a workout in. you have some high quality problems :)) and I mean that in the kindest way.

great post .SISU
